With the theme of China's Grand Canal, the concert selected local operas or classic folk songs of eight provinces that the canal passes through from north to south, and recomposed them in the form of Chinese Orchestra. Nine pieces of music of three movements, which are "Ancient Canal", "Colorful Canal" and "Eternal Canal", tell the history of this man-made canal, which is more than 2,500 years old now. The music shows the varied folk customs of the provinces and cities along the Grand Canal, and explains the rich and everlasting historical, cultural and spiritual value of the Grand Canal. 大型实景民族管弦乐音乐会《大运河》是江苏省文化和旅游盛会——第四届大运河文化旅游博览会开幕式的演出。音乐会以中国大运河为主题，精选了中国自北向南流经的8个省份的地方戏曲或经典民歌，以民族管弦乐的形式加以创作编配，通过“古老的运河”、“多彩的运河”、“永远的运河”三个乐章九首曲目，在绵延不绝的乐曲中诉说着这条人工运河2500多年的历史，展示中国大运河沿岸各省市多姿多彩的民俗风情，阐释大运河淳厚隽永的历史文化精神价值。 The concert was held at the foot of the beautiful Tiger Hill Pagoda in Suzhou.
